Thejesh Kumar Garala receives the Philip Turner Prize 2018

Philip Turner was an outstanding mechanical engineer, who designed a wide range of innovative devices. He made major formative contributions to the design of geotechnical centrifuges for the Schofield Centre. He was a design engineer in the Department of Engineering for many years and when he died he bequeathed in his will a prize to be awarded annually for "outstanding work in geotechnical centrifuge testing conducted by a research student working at the Schofield Centre in Cambridge".

Professor Gopal Madabhushi, Director of Schofield Centrifuge Centre and Head of Geotechnical and Environmental Group, presented the prize to Thejesh on Friday 5 October 2018.
