Stefan Ritter receives the Philip Turner Prize 2016

Philip Turner was an outstanding mechanical engineer, who designed a wide range of innovative devices. He made major formative contributions to the design of geotechnical centrifuges for the Schofield Centre. He was a design engineer in the Department of Engineering for many years and when he died he bequeathed in his will a prize to be awarded annually for "outstanding work in geotechnical centrifuge testing conducted by a research student working at the Schofield Centre in Cambridge".

This year the prize was awarded to Stefan Ritter for his outstanding and innovative research.
