The Duke of Gloucester visits the Schofield Centre

On Friday 24th February the Schofield Centre was delighted to host a visit by the His Royal Highness The Duke of Gloucester. He was accompanied by Lt Col Alastair Todd, Private Secretary, and HM Lord-Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire, Hugh Duberly Esq CBE. Director of the Centre, Professor Gopal Madabhushi escorted the party down to the 10m diameter Cambridge Geotechnical Centrifuge and described the world renowned research conducted using the centrifuge. Professors Robert Mair, Kenichi Soga and Dr Jennifer Schooling showed some posters illustrating the work of the Centre for Smart Infrastructure and Construction (CSIC) activities including new wireless sensors and innovative fibre optics techniques for measuring the performance of key infrastructure, such as tunnels, bridges and buildings - and their role in smart cities of the future.
