Deryck Chan was named East of England and Midlands regional winner of the Pitch 200 competition, an annual competition organised by the Institution of Civil Engineers, where contestants explain a civil engineering innovation within 200 seconds. In Deryck's winning video, 'Pushing the boundaries of civil engineering with a big centrifuge', he explained the principles of geotechnical centrifuge modelling and presented the facilities of the Cambridge Geotechnical Beam Centrifuge. He will present his work at the finals in Belfast in October.
