Biography

Carlos holds a MEng in Geotechnical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (Barcelona). He began his professional career in 2015 working in the petroleum industry as a Drilling Fluids Engineer in Argentina and the USA. Between 2017 and 2020, Carlos worked in the capacity of Geotechnical Engineer in York and Birmingham (UK) where he got involved in a wide range of geotechnical schemes including the King's Cross East gasworks tunnel remodelling project or the HS2 green tunnels design. During this period Carlos focused on geotechnical design using 2D and 3D FEA. In addition to this, he worked on the implementation of innovative back-analysis technology during the construction phase of various civil engineering projects. Carlos is currently undertaking a PhD in the University of Cambridge and his research interests include the seismic response of offshore wind monopiles in liquefiable soils.
