Biography:

Charles studied engineering at Christ's College, Cambridge and graduated in 2009 with an MEng.
Working on the EU Project SERIES, Charles started a PhD in October 2009 under the supervision of Dr Stuart Haigh and Dr Gopal Madabhushi.
Research
Charles' current research is investigating the mechanism of failure of shallow foundations during seismic loading. The beam centrifuge in the Schofield Centre, Cambridge will be used to replicate prototype stresses in the models and high speed photography will allow a Geo-PIV analysis to be conducted. The research will be conducted jointly with partners from Europe.
