Ying joined the Geotechnical Research Group in October 2014 to carry out a back-analysis research on deep basement excavation in urban area with fully sponsorship of Ove Arup.
She obtained Bachelor degrees in both Engineering and Economics from Technology University of South China in 2003. She continued her Master in Civil Engineering study with University of Southampton in 2007 and was awarded Student Scholarship.
Ying joined Ove Arup after graduation in 2003 and worked in China and Hong Kong. She returned to Arup London after Master study. With 10 years experience spent in the industry, Ying is specialized in the geotechnics, particular in underground construction design and modelling. Ying has been involved in a few large scale infrastructure projects in UK, Doha,Hong Kong, Thailand and China: Crossrail Canary Wharf Station ,Tottenham Court Road Station, Doha Metro Line, Hong Kong Admiralty station extension, Bangkok Metro Line extension, Shezhen Metro Line 4. Before she started the PhD study in Cambridge, she had been a Project Engineer leading a few projects providing Geotechnical design and consultancy service.
