Research Interests

Submarine landslides are one of the most serious potential geo-hazards in offshore and coastal areas. Understanding of the mechanism of submarine landslides is essential to pursue further offshore developments. Takaaki's research especially aims to improve the capability of prognostic prediction of submarine landslide events. The objectives of the research involve;

  • Comparative study of existing numerical models for submarine landslides.
  • Development of a new numerical model based on the Material Point Method.
  • Centrifuge modelling tests of submarine landslides.
